Hilton Lodge

HISTORIC AND ROMANTIC IRISH COTTAGE FOR HIRE

LITTLE PIECE OF BALLINTEER/DUNDRUM HISTORY

Hilton Lodge has been home to photographer David Kenna since 1994. It is an original gate lodge built circa 1880, on its own grounds, located in Ballinteer, Dundrum. Always being a property of distinction in the area, it was originally owned by Lord Mount Charles of Slane Castle, who subsequently sold it to Mary Taylor, a lady of renowned properties in her day.

Hilton Estate was used by Padraig Pearse as retreat during his day’s at neighbouring school St Enda’s. Local folklore would have you believe that there are tunnels in the original estate grounds that were used as hiding places during the struggle for independence.

Hilton Lodge, with its high surrounding walls is a beautiful and very private oasis in the heart of a changing suburb of Dublin, overlooking the old orchard which is now a green space for the residents of Hilton Gardens. When you close the old cast iron gates behind you this beautiful quaint cottage wraps its arms around you whisking you off to times past and one can be forgiven for feeling that you are miles away from a city suburb.

This one off property hosts a unique energy that captivates every visitor, bringing feelings of tranquillity and peacefulness. Its a property of true character where one can enjoy sunny evenings pottering around the quaint garden, dining with friends in the rear walled garden, or simply sitting and contemplating in a quiet corner. It is set at the entrance to Hilton Gardens which is a small cul-de-sac that thrives on a strong community spirit where residents both young and old, get together regularly, to play, chat, and maintain the area to a high standard.

“Living at Hilton Lodge is not so much about owning a beautiful house, it more about a way of life”
